High Value Link Building
Are your links doing anything for you? How do you know if incoming links to your site are going to help you with lifting your site?
- Are the sites linking to you using nofollow tagged links? Nofollowis an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target’s ranking in the search engine’s index. You can check this by looking at the source code or install a plugin for Firefox NoDoFollow. This plugin will show you if link has nofollow tag or not. If the link has a nofollow tag or shows up red in NoDoFollow it will most likely not be of much help with your SEO efforts. It may still bring you traffic.
- Is the link scripted or redirected? Links created with javascript or redirected render the links un-indexable by search engine crawlers. When you hover over the link, do you see your URL in the bottom of the browser or do you see something else, like internal link in the site? If you see your URL the link is direct. If the link is not a direct link it will not be of much SEO value.
- What is the page rankingof the website that is linking to you? Higher ranking site or page with the link gives you a better value. Link from a unranked or low ranked site has limited value.
- Anchor text is the hyperlinked words on a web page – the words you click on when you click a link. The reason it is important is that it tells the search engine what your page is about and helps you gain better position for the phrase or words used in the link.
